Reflecting on Writing as a Way to Understand Themselves
After the students completed their poem, they wrote how they felt now that the poem was written. Students were very happy that they were able to take the vocabulary and emotions and work on them to explain how they felt about energy. Here are pictures of their reflections, written on the same whiteboard that listed their chosen vocabulary. Students like to write on these individual slates. There are some students who don't like to write but know they need to practice in order to communicate with others.
These students learned that they CAN write. They learned that they have emotions, but for the most part are happier than they are sad or mad. They learned a new way to bring words together. They learned that writing can be fun.
