Slam Poem by Larissa
My name is electricity,
I run through nervous veins,
Charge the happiness in one’s
Soul
I will light up the earth
With my energy,
I will stampede cities
Lightening a battery to me
I who spark at the flick of a switch
Moon Mana by Noel
As the moon ascends,
And our day ends,
We lay sleeping under an ocean of light,
That gives Mana to those in fright.
Even on her temporary off season, the moon gives you a reason.
Under her cloak of invisibility she waits,
Silently waiting for Helio her mate.
As she transforms back into a full,
The impatient people will no longer pull,
To see the joyous moon again.
When people see the breath taking view,
People who don’t lose their blue are few.
They absorb the light like a Mana thirsty Mo’o,
That makes observers go who’o
When Hina closes herself up like a sad flower,
We pray to the Akua for another night of Mana,…….or Power.
Earth by Dalton
Earth
Birthplace of the human race
Capable of great compassion
Water is how we survive
Air is our elixir
To keep us alive
My ohana is my life
Mana is like you carrying the sun
A species much like our oun
A deeper revelation dawns
aloha means a lot to me
Dependent like your heart
Fire is our blanket to keep us warm
Pono is like King Kamehameha
Peace like a waterfall
A courageous person is one who sacrifices
TIME
Reflection of Life by Joslynn
Sometimes I’m dependent and I need my ohana
I am like the ocean and I have lots of mana
Feeling trapped in my life, so I revise
When I’m with my family, my love shines like light
I wish I wasn’t confused, I wish I could see
But I have a great reflection for my life on Maui
Love by Susan
Why?
Why am I so calm?
Is it from the energy in the tree, the sun?
What is it?
Why am I so exhausted?
Is it coming from too much aloha?
I need a conclusion!
I wonder if it’s from my ohana?
Where’s my data, I need to figure this out?
I’m getting hyped, worked up,
And I’m so close!
The love!
That’s it,
I get so much from it from everyone
You can’t not notice it.
And that’s why I’ll feel like this tomorrow and forever!
Mahalo.
Water Ohana by Jeremie
Water particles are an ohana
They work together and make waves
They blow bubbles when helio boils them
They work together to conduct electricity
They would be depressed if they were all alone
When they are exhausted, helio takes them to the sky
And creates clouds
When they’re infuriated
They drop back down filled with energy
Water molecules are very dependent on each other
And stay together with incredible mahalo
Cowboy Joe by Willie
I get really excited when I’m on a horse
To ride a bull you have to be tough
Be Strong
Use your mana!
I feel proud when my ohana cheers for me
Riding under the stars is the best
Be independent
Have fun!
A bucking bull is like riding a wave
A rough ocean, pounding over and over
Ask Akua for guidance
Ask Akua for safety
Dad helps me reflect on how I rode, what I did wrong.
He helps me improve to do better next time.
