Welcome to Mana Seekers

What do you get when you combine artists and teachers with collaboration? That is exactly what the Maui Arts & Cultural Center discovers as they fund this educational project for the 2010-2011 school year. Artist Makamae Murray and seventh grade science teacher Maggie Prevenas plan an Inter-Disciplinary Unit (IDU) which takes elements of storytelling, Hawaiian culture, poetry and visual art and embeds them into Hawaii State Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies Standards. What is Energy?

The sun, water, earth, rain, ocean, people, food, trees, plants, life are all answers to this question. But what do YOU think? What do scientists think? Energy is explored using some fun ideas and interesting examples at this very cool (but hot) ENERGY website for students.
